Reiki

Reiki was re-discovered by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th Century. It is a natural system of healing that involves the laying on of hands. Pronounced "ray key", it is usually translated as'universal life energy'.

Rei can be translated as spiritual wisdom or 'All that is' or the 'God force'. Ki means energy, it is the life force that flows through and animates every living being. Reiki is a gentle healing energy that can clear energy blockages and negativity to bring balance to the body, mind, emotions and spirit.

MikaoUsui

When our energy is flowing we experience a sense of well-being and maintain health. This natural state of ease enables the activation of our body's inbuilt healing system.

Reiki is also very useful to relieve pain and physical ailments. It helps to place us in an environment of acceptance which can help to shift our perspective. This shifting of awareness opens us up to new possibilities and can help us to cope better and with more understanding of our current situation.

Reiki is transferred from teacher to student through an attunement or empowerment. There are three degrees of attunements or empowerments: Reiki First Degree or'Shoden' (student), Reiki Second Degree or 'Okuden' (practitioner) and Reiki Third Degree or 'Shinpiden' (master/teacher). I have been attuned to Shinpiden (master teacher).

Reiki Treatments

Reiki is channelled to you through my hands using a light touch or no touch with intention and intuition. The flow of energy enables deep relaxation and many people report feelings of calm and peace, deep feelings of being nurtured and cared for, tingling sensations, feelings of hot and cold in different areas of their body and around them. It is a non-invasive and supportive treatment, and you will be fully clothed (shoes off) and comfortably lying or sitting down. Each person is individual and so the responses will be different. Although I have tried my best to inform you of what reiki is, it somehow evades description on an intellectual level. If you are drawn to reiki then I recommend you try it for yourself and experience it on the level of feeling to fully appreciate its worth. The treatment will last for an hour and I encourage you to close your eyes and relax as this time is for you to recharge and renew yourself.

For more information about booking treatments, please see the Prices page. I also teach courses in Reiki I, Reiki II and Reiki III.
